Denver Finalist for Women's Final Four

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has selected Denver as one of eight finalist cities to host the 2012-16 Women’s Final Four. The event would be hosted by the Mountain West Conference and played at the Pepsi Center. If selected, it would be the first time Denver has hosted this premiere women’s collegiate basketball event.

“The Mountain West Conference and Denver Sports could not be more excited to be named a finalist for one of the biggest women’s sporting events in the United States: The NCAA Women’s Final Four,” said Mountain West Conference Associate Commissioner Dan Butterly. “We truly look forward to the opportunity to showcase all that the City of Denver, the Rocky Mountain region and Pepsi Center has to offer NCAA Women’s Basketball during the next phase of the of the bid process.”

Site visits to each city will be conducted in September or October, 2008. Following the site visits to each prospective city, the finalists will participate in a presentation session with the committee in mid-November. The 2012-16 Women’s Final Four sites will be announced in mid-November.
