Our History, Our Mission and Our Objectives

Our History:
The Metro Denver Sports Commission (MDSC) was created in 2001 to attract economically beneficial sporting events to the Denver market. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of community leaders. The (MDSC) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization with an operating non-profit Charities Board, a 501(c)(3) entity managed by a separate Board of Directors.

The MDSC is supported financially through corporate partnerships and an individual membership program. Local businesses, area colleges and universities, local and state government entities, civic organizations and professional sports teams all make the work of the Sports Commission possible.

Our Mission:
 The purpose of the Metro Denver Sports Commission is to create a legacy of economic and social vitality through sports. 

Through our collaborative efforts around sports events, the Metro Denver Sports Commission attracts, facilitates and supports the following:

• Economic Vitality: Attract major events that generate significant economic impact
• Social Vitality: Promote health and wellness in the areas of
  • Lifestyle: advocacy of policy for a healthy lifestyle
  • Youth access and participation
  • Volunteerism
