Field Set for Curling Trials

Final Olympic Teams have been announced for the 2009 Nationals/2010 Olympic Team Trials

This past weekend the final 8 teams were announced for the 2009 Nationals/2010 Olympic Trials. On the Men’s side: John Shuster rink, Craig Disher rink, Greg Romaniuk rink and Craig Brown rink were the final men’s team to qualify.

On the Women’s side: Aileen Sormunen rink, Cristin Clark rink, Amy Wright rink and Margie Smith rink were the final women’s team to qualify.

Buy the Button

Get your face at the 2009 U.S. National Curling Championships

Ever wanted to be "IN" a U.S. Olympic Team Trials?  Well, here's your chance.  USA Curling and Denver Sports announced today the launch of the “Buy The Button” promotion in advance of next month’s 2009 USA Curling National Championships, where the nominees for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team will be selected.

OK, so it's not as a competitor, but you can still get your face into the center of the action, literally. -- The “button” is the center, or bulls-eye, of the scoring area, called the “house’. This is the most coveted spot on a curling sheet. With a minimum $1,150 bid, the “Buy The Button” auction will allow the winners to have their face placed in ice on the button, where it will remain throughout the competition.

Teams Selected for Curling Trials

The first 12 teams have qualified for the 2009 U.S. Nationals/2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling this past weekend. The remaining 8 teams will be determined at the Challenge Round, January 28th - February 1st. The women will be playing in Green Bay, Wisconsin and the men will be playing in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Denver to host 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) – Denver, Colorado, has been selected as the host site for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling.

A final agreement is pending, but the U.S. Curling Association (USCA) Board of Directors voted on Saturday to accept a bid presented by the Metro Denver Sports Commission (MDSC) to host the weeklong competition Feb. 21-28, 2009, at the Broomfield Event Center, a 7,000-plus seat arena located between Denver and Boulder.

Denver Sports Kicks Off "Learn to Curl" Nights

Denver-The Metro Denver Sports Commission (Denver Sports) announced today that they will host a series of "Learn to Curl" nights at The Ice Ranch in Littleton.  These fundraisers serve to kick-off their promotion of the 2010 USA Curling Olympic Team Trials, which the organization is hosting in February 2009 at the Broomfield Event Center.

The second event in the series is Thursday, July 24, features Craig Brown, one of the top skips in the U.S, as host.  Brown is the current American champion skip and winner of the 2000 U.S. Championships.
